May 2019 – Enduro Bulgaria
Crossing a section of the Rhodope Mountain range, Bulgaria, on Enduro Motorbikes
My best friend, and all-round good guy, Captain Jason Crome turned 50, and we wanted to do something to remember. I organised the entire trip around something he loved: motorbikes. We’d all mountain biked, and he was an experienced rider; I’d previously only ever rented an automatic moped on holiday.
A couple of weeks before we were due to set off, it suddenly dawned on me: I had no idea how to ride a motorbike! So I managed to arrange an intensive weekend of training, and I was ready to race. Or not! But I did survive. Just.

“Beloved Publican and all-round good guy Captain Jason Crome is turning 50 in May. To celebrate the fact that he’s lasted this long, he’s embarking on an epic, week long, off-road trip across the Rhodope Mountain range in Bulgaria on Husqvarna Enduro motorbikes with a group of equally irresponsible friends. This may or may not have ever been attempted before and some may never return.
We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way, shape or form and Jason is no different. This motorcycling foolishness is going to be carried out in support of the NOMAN is an Island Race to end HPV and prevent 5% of cancers charity.”
